PASADENA - The Salerno Theatre Co. and its sister company, American Concert Company, announced today that it has excercised its cancellation clause in its performance contract with Pasadena Community Church.

The musical theatre company who had launched its theatrical concert division in mid-2006 had entered into a six concet performance agreement with Pasadena Community Church in June of 2007.

Prior to the cancellation, Pasadena Community Church had hosted two Salerno/American Concert Company concert (MUSIC OF THE KNIGHT and SWEET DREAMS) and had served as a temporary home to the Florida Orchestra while the Mahaffey Theater was undergoing renovations. Salerno has also fulfilled its obligation to direct and help produce PCC's Christmas production of THE JOURNEY last month.

"It's unfortunate that we find ourselves in this position," says Salerno's producing artistic director, Michael Mathews.

"This is certainly not a reflection on Salerno or the good folks at Pasadena Community Church. This decision was made predominantly because while our audiences loved the concerts we put on, as well as the warm welcome they received from the PCC congregation, there was an ongoing issue with blocked sight lines, as well as audio and acoustic issues that could not be adequately resolved. While we look forward to future opportunities with PCC and its congregation, we have an obvious duty to give our audiences the best productions that we are capable of and, therefore, have a need to make this decision."

"Both Salerno and PCC personnel went above and beyond to make this work. Unfortunately, there were just hurdles that we could not overcome."

The scheduled production of BROADWAY IN CONCERT has been re-scheduled to May 15-25, 2008 at The Catherine Hickman Theatre in Gulfport. Planned productions of CROSSFIRE, COUNTRY KINGS & QUEENS, and HITSVILLE, USA have been postponed until further notice.

Salerno is continuing its search for a new performance home for its American Concert Company division.
